Is there a way to get cheap car insurance at 16?

So I'm 16 and Ive had my restricted for over a year now but me nor my parents can afford a car or insurance right now. So i was thinking if i drove my moms car is there a way to get insurance cheap. Can i stay under my moms insurance? Is there a way to lie to the insurance company so that i can get it at an adult cost or at a cheaper cost? Anything? Thank you.

  1. yeah the cheapest would be to add yourself as a secondary driver to their policy. maybe you can take off some coverage and just go with liability.
  2. So wait till you're like 19 or 20 before you get a car like every other normal person. Also, unless you lie and say you're 25 or you have nothing covered in your insurance anybody under age 25 pays an increased rate because people 16-25 get into more accidents more often then any other age group. We all go through it. Your best bet is to just get put as a secondary driver on your parents insurance and drive their car. The only thing I am wondering is why at 16 are you driving? Where on earth do you have to go that your parents can't just drop you off at? Also if you lie to the insurance company and get caught, that is a felony charge of fraud and you and/or your parents serve a mandatory minimum sentence of 5-10 years.
  3. IF you lie to the insurance company in order to get your premiums reduced, they could CANCEL your policy for a material misrepresentation. The least expensive way for you to be covered at present will be for you to be added on to your parent's policy. Even less expensive if the car is fully paid off, and all you need is liability. Driving your parent's car without insurance is a good way to get a ticket for no insurance and for your parent's car to get impounded. (How much do you think your folks can afford to bail out mom's car, if they can't afford to add you to their insurance?)
