How many busses would you have to get to & from work if you sold your car?

Obviously the way the government are going, they are trying to get us to sell our cars and use public transport to get to and from work etc. I personally woulfd have to get a total of 6 busses per day to drop my daughter off at her childminder's and get to and from work. It's way too far to walk and the train station is right next to my office pretty much, so that wouldn't be an option either! it's just a pointless poll really, but I wanted to see if others would find it just as difficult to give up their car. Also, my journey would increase from 30 minutes to around 3 hours each way!

  1. 2. I know that because I don't have a car and always take the bus to work.
  2. There isn't a bus route round here (I work on a large industrial estate), so I'd have to get off a bus a couple of miles away and walk. Pah! I'd sign on the dole before I do that lol.
  3. There is no regular bus where I live out in the sticks. I would only be able to get to work 2 days per week.
  4. I used to work at a large supermarket on an industrial estate, so if I had no car I wouldnt be able to get there and I would also have to change my store where I shop too, Apart from that a trip into town would cost 4.80!!!!! Hardly cheaper than running a car. If the government want to encourage people to give up their cars, then they must provide adequate alternatives, cheap and reliable. But like always this will not5 happen, they are more interested in making revenue than makes benefits for people!!
  5. 4. Turning a journey of 20mins along a duel carriageway into a journey of 1hour+ through 3 different towns.
  6. Sell my car!?!?!? Are you effing nuts? I'd shoot myself in the head first. Oh wait; the bleeding heart Liberals took all our guns...................SIGH. It's a good thing I have people to run the business for me. I haven't been to work since May.
  7. none. I live in the middle of nowhere, no buses run through my village. I would be completely isolated without a car and wouldn't be able to leave my house. The nearest shop is a 20 min drive away
  8. I would have to get 1 bus and it would be more expensive to drive than my car, so I will just keep driving my car
  9. none, i work from home. You are missing the whole point in your situation here. You were enabled to choose your job because you have a car. If people have to stop using thier car, the travel to the job will become very important and more people will get local jobs, or move to where the jobs are. Its called "localisation" and you can see it gaining more traction in all walks of life ( food, holiday, buy/sell etc ) Its how things used to be, our 200 year experiment in globalisation might just have peaked. people do seem to believe they have a "right" to live anywhere and choose jobs anywhere else. This is just not true, nor sustainable, as people are finding out now. The migration away from places of work is recent, and its not a human "right". As to people who live in the countryside and complain about lack of public transport. What did they expect ?
