moving across the US what is the best way for moving personal belongings?

ok what is the cheapest way to move all your stuff from the eastcoast(NC) to the westcoast(CA)? would it be better to sell all your stuff on ebay or most of it and then just drive your 2 cars across the US or use a service like pods.com and have them move all your stuff and then just take 2 plane tickets? the estimate my friends got was $4000. how much would it cost to just drive a Uhaul van across the U.S.? and how much would it cost to just drive 2 cars across the U.S . assuming that the 2 people could sell all of their stuff on ebay? just trying to figure out the best way. i mean if it cost 4000 bucks for pods to move everything for you and you find out that to move your self will cost 3,500....is it worth the 500 bucks to go through the hassle of doing it your self?

  1. call uhal and see what they say.. they might give you a good deal. if you sell everything then that just means you need to purchase most if not all of those items again... i would just call a moving company or do it yourself..
  2. When you're moving that far away, it's always best to have a mover move you. Unless you can move yourself for much, much cheaper, it's so much better to have someone else do it. They have cheaper movers who will take like 2 weeks to get your stuff there, but it costs less money. So, if you're not in a hurry, you can find one of them. Just look online for movers. As for Uhaul and the other rental trucks, just go to their sites and get free quotes. It will give you an idea of what it will cost you. But, going that far, it's going to be pretty expensive.
