Overhaulin'

How long is too long for a car to sit on your property?

Ok here is my delima: We sold a car 8 years ago, and they wanted my husband to paint it, he did, well we did not hear from them for 3 years, he came by one day and asked my husband to build him a motor, he brought the motor and parts etc with him, again we did not hear from him for another 3 years, he stopped by one day just to check on things the car was sitting in the yard, another 2 years goes by we have no way to get in touch with him, we are cleaning the yard due to insurance reasons have the car hauled to the crusher and 2 months later he calls my husband and we told him what we done and now he is taking us to court and wants $5,500.00!! What the heck if you wanted your car you should have came and got it!! We are not a storage yard!

  1. You gave him ample opportunity to pick it up, and since he never did I don't think the lawsuit has a leg to stand on.
  2. if he comes back, charge him for storage. if your husband has it down in writing what he wanted your husband to do, and signed, then that guy hasnt got a leg to stand on.
