Will my ipod classic car charger work with my iphone 4?

I have a after market car charger for my ipod classic. Will the charger work for my iphone 4?

1. Maybe. Older chargers used different pins than the new chargers do. Try it and see. You won't damage the charger or iPod.
2. Yes! My ipod classic's charger works with my newer ipod touch not a problem, both models are new enough to have the same usb cable and the pins in those cables are the same.
3. It''s the chip. The newer chargers compatible with most older models. But the older chargers do not support the latest products.
