My car engine locked(died) should i report it to auto insurance (Geico)?
I have rental car coverage on my policy, I was wondering would reporting a claim to my car insurance company about my car engine locked will it raise my insurance rate. I was driving my car and the engine died on me. I really need a rental until my car is fixed. I can afford to get a mechanic to fix my car, so i don't need geico to cover my repair cost, but all i just need is a rental car for 1 month

- Not sure if they would cover that. Insurance will cover things like when you run over something on freeway that you could not avoid and do damge to underside of car, or crack your oil pan and thats why it siezed due to oil loss.. but engine failure most likely from age, miles or no maintinance, not likely... but good luck
- The rental coverage on insurance usually pertains to renting if your car was in an accident, not due to failure on account of maintenance or age of the vehicle. You need to talk to somebody at Geico for answers, not YA
- .why buy insurance and not use it when needed..but ill be if you closely read the policy,,,you'll find you are not covered
- They aren't going to pay for your engine failing.
- The rental car coverage is only for when your car is in the shop for repairs due to a covered event - an accident. Mechanical failure of your vehicle is not covered by your auto insurance. And if it's going to take your mechanic a month to fix your car, I'd look for another mechanic....
- Your rental car coverage only applies in the event of an accident, not mechanical failure. Even if it did, they wouldn't pay for a rental for more than a week. It's worth a shot, but I doubt very seriously that your insurance will pay for you to rent a car.
- No, insurance won't give you a rental car because of a mechanical problem with your car. That is only in effect if you have been in an accident and need a rental while your car is in the body shop.
