Can I sell my tires separately if I junk my car?

I want to have a Junkyard take my car, it's a '93 Cutlass Supreme. It doesn't run and I'm assuming I won't get much for it. However, 3 of the tires or only a month old and I want them to sell on Craigslist or something because I think I can get more money that way. Should I have it towed to the junkyard, then take the tires off there? Or will the junk yard take my car if it doesn't have tires??

  1. junk yard will even charge you for tire disposal fees lol jks.... yea sell all the parts on your own first ,to get the most out of it
  2. check with the junk yard, but you can probably get away with it. i junked one car that had only rims when it went on the flat bed tow truck. at the time it died i had just bought tires for it, didnt recover 1/4 of what the tires cost to begin with, it was barely worth the effort. the one i junked was a charity donation. i suggest you look into those, if you or somebody close and trustworthy has a high tax rate, blue book value times tax rate is what the car becomes in cash.
  3. Junk yard won't care if the car has no tires as long as it's got something to roll on. They can't carry the car onto the flatbed. But even if your tires are only a month old used tires won't sell for much. You'll probably only get $30 each for them unless they are excellent high performance summer tires. Is it worth the hassle?
  4. Most junk yards will take your car without tires, call and ask first, and your right selling tires yourself will get you more money
  5. Yes you can sell your car to a junk yard without tires! they may deduct the price for missing tires
  6. Junk don't have to take or even buy your car if for any reason they don't want to. No court can force them to buy or take it without tires. Junk cars are worth more in parts than you may think so they are really looking for something either weight price , parts whatever. All you can do is tell them what you want to do and go from there. If you take the tires off or bring them a car without tires it is up to them what they do. You'll be spending more if they say we don't want it.
