Any ways we can modify Car Tires design and road conditions to improve proformance?

Just a question thats on my mind :P

1. Get tires that are made for traction. all season ones work good. i have them on my camaro.
2. I prefer directional tire treads for road performance.
3. Back in July 2010 I was at Conrad's getting my tires balanced and I heard that they are going to be making tires different in a year. From what they were telling me, the tires are going to be made differently where they have to be pumped up to the right pressure (that is why air is free at all Conrad's) or they wear out faster. These tires are supposed to get better miles per gallon. This is supposed to happen in the summer of 2011 (according to Conrad's in July).
