Audi A3 (Brand New) Car on order question?

Ordered a Audi a3 1.6 Diesel sportback 5dr on 23rd of November...just a few questions. This is ideal for me at the moment I know some people may think im stupid on getting a brand new or may of been better of getting a bigger engine....But ordered this on November 23rd 2010 and said be ready late March but sometimes they come a little quicker. The reason why Im getting a factory order for is because Im getting a few extras instead of basic factory build which he had in stock. However the sales guy phoned me the other day saying oh great news....maybe to some interest to you I have one available on a cancel order which had everything that I have on order but its blue (ordered black) so I said I will go up and have Al ok at it in person has had my heart set on Black but if blue meant I could get it before Christmas then great. So I wait for a call back of him...and he said oh....I've made a mistake its only 3door not 5....(after stating 3times hes confirmed that its everything I wanted Model, engine, extras, doors etc...) then said It be late April/May. Which I find this a bit odd....Just wondering if anyone has any knowledge on orders with new cars or audi etc...and if ordered a new car with audi how long did it take. The extras that I've got ain't massive just things like rear parking sensors and one or 2 others....

  1. How long it takes to build your car really depends on how busy the factory is. If your car (or something else built on the same line) is very popular they may not be able to keep up with the demand. What options you order really makes no difference. All the cars go down the same line so if it doesn't need a part it just doesn't get installed but it still stops at that work station.
  2. It's possible he was careless when he checked it out. It's also possible somebody else snatched it up and he didn't want you to feel you missed the opportunity so he lied about it.
  3. I think the sales guy is putting pressure on you so he can sell a car on the lot, which costs them money, plus the sales guys does not his commission until delivery. I would hold on to your black car order and wait it out. You were willing to wait out delivery anyway and the sales person has absolutely no way of knowing when the car will be delivered since this is all done at the factory.
