What is the best used car to buy from the 90's/early 2000's?

I am look at Toyota Corollas or Honda Civics cause I hear they're reliable as long as they're maintained well. But I also found a cheap used Mercedes- are luxury cars good to buy used or are they not reliable? Also what's good mileage to buy on an old car from the 90's/early 2000's? I'm not looking to spend more than $3,000. Thanks.

1. 2001 Buick Regal GS...fast as sht and if you spend a little bit of money, you can get it much faster, plus, its a luxury car
2. Honda civic's are about as reliable as they get as long as they are maintained, and the repairs are fairly cheap compared to euro cars
3. ok go with a honda accord 93-20 or honda civic 95-20. hondas r very reliable just keep oil in it and do tune ups regularly.
