How can I get the most $$ for selling a junk car?
Its a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass. The car is that real heavy metal too. It runs, but it's junk.. I know a few options like, donating it for a tax write-off... Selling it at a junkyard/selling it for parts. Or even to a metal scrapper. What are my best options?

- advertise it for sale in your local paper. best offer.
- How the **** is it junk? Oldsmobiles have become collectors. If you destroy it, your destroying something irreplaceable! Why would you destroy a good, quality, American made car? Why do you hate America so much?
- There are junk dealers that will give you up to two hundred dollars for you old car if you look in the classifieds adds of if you want to sell if for parts only you can get a little more for it,if someone needs parts for that year of car you can place an add in the autotrader,ca and sell it for your price,or B.OFFER.Try that and see what happens.
- Run the numbers. Try selling it privately first. While doing so, watch the market for metal. Once you have it long enough, you will be happy just to give it away.
- If that's a rear wheel drive cutlass, put that thing up on craigslist for parts with the caption "euro front end" and you will EASILY make $200, assuming the front header panel (lights, grilles, etc) are not beat up. Once you sell all the parts off of it that people want, take it in for scrap, junkyard won't pay you squat for a non-running parts vehicle, whereas a scrap dealer will. You wouldn't believe how popular those front ends are, since they were one year only. Tax writeoffs never make you money, only lessen what you pay. You are always better off taking the cash.
