Are car insurance companies responsible for so many kids being killed in road accidents?

Car insurance companies are charging unaffordable amounts of money for kids to drive. This has led to bitter resentment and kids risking prosecution by driving illegally and risking serious injury to themselves, their passengers and other road users as a result of them driving with unavoidable inexperience.

  1. The alternative would be to charge them less and let others pick up the bills for their accidents. There is a deep flaw in your 'logic'. How does a high Insurance charge lead to inexperience?
  2. this is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. the reason kids are doing stupid things on the road is because they think they can get away with it which is a stupid mentality. the high cost insurance is caused by kids taking risks not the other way around.
  3. Are car insurance companies responsible for so many kids being killed in road accidents? No - the kids that steal the cars or drive them illegally are responsible - along with some of the parents - who should be held accountable under parental responsibility. No good trying to blame the insurance companies for the idiocy and lunacy of some of these kids - they have an option - STOP when asked to do so.
  4. i'd blame the kids for dying in car accidents. there is always a cause for a crash and normally they cause it.
  5. What a stupid question. The fact that kids kill themselves when they drive is because they think they're Jenson Button after 20 lessons and a test consisting of a 40 minute trundle round town and a couple of low speed manoeuvres. Insurance is for the protection of all the other drivers on the road.
  6. What planet are you from? The fact they have no insurance or not has nothing to do with them driving if they decide to break the law. Driving with no insurance does not increase the risk of death or injury - it is true however that the ones that drive without insurance have the personality that may lead them to break other laws like speeding so end up dead and killing others. "...driving with unavoidable experience" - clearly gobbledygook
  7. You're probably one of those people who think that fast food restaurants are responsible for making people fat, aren't you? Car insurance is expensive for children because there are parents out there (people not unlike you, I'm sure) who are teaching these kids that it's always someone elses fault for everything. They know nothing about personal responsibility, because their parents are teaching them that there's ALWAYS someone else to blame, that responsibility is for everyone else, not their precious children who should NEVER know responsibility, accountability and being rewarded for doing something right. The people reward their children DESPITE poor behavior. These kids have grown up with a sense of entitlement and accommodation. When these kids do something wrong, instead of using it as an opportunity to teach them a lesson, the parents are right there making excuses for their behavior and arguing that the rules are unfair, and should be changed to accommodate their over-privileged children. Therefore, insured or not, these kids are driving recklessly, because they have no consideration for anyone but themselves. They kill other people and each other on the roads, because they believe the rules are for others, not themselves. I for one am GLAD that the insurance companies are making it so hard for these kids to get insurance, because maybe, just maybe, they'll understand that the world doesn't revolve around them, despite what the parents are teaching them.
  8. No, the drivers are the cause. They would kill or be killed either way. This is a poor excuse, bad drivers need taking off the road full stop.
  9. while i agree about the price of insurance being ridiculous i don't mind if someone drives uninsured once , or down dirt roads but its just silly to drive without insurance regularly and on main roads
  10. An insurance company is a business, it needs to make a profit to survive. Allowing insurance at lower premiums would bankrupt them with all the idiot drivers out there, young and old. 1 in 4 young drivers has a serious crash in their first year so they are being specifically targetted by higher premiums to try to control the claims costs. The cause of most teenage girls' death these days is their boyfriend or friend's driving - FACT
  11. This in no way is intended to be disrespectful but you need to look at the whole picture and understand that today’s kids have little to no respect for anything plus they live in the fast lane everyday.. They can’t wait for anything, they don’t want to finish school or go to college and get a job and they want it today and will go whatever is needed to get it the wrong way. You can’t blame the insurance companies and if insurance were very affordable for teens then there would be a lot more accidents and deaths, that’s a fact. The other day one of my customers sons asked me how fast he could make quick money repairing cars and could he be in the same financial situation as me, I stated that he could but it would take 20 to 30 years and a lot of hard work, he just rolled his eyes and that was the end of that conversation.
  12. Your question demonstrates an incredible naivety and a total lack of understanding about the real world. Hopefully, you'll gain some important knowledge about life, when you grow up.
  13. OMG The insurance company is insuring this car that the young driver is driving, no? The car has plates on, aren't they? If the car has plates legally, then the car is insured it dosen't matter now who drove it, therefore this drivers are NOT driving illegally. FYI; if we'd been suing the insurance companies less, then the insurance industry would've be more profitably, thus flooding the market with more companies, developing a Hugh competition, causing prices to drop sharply, and BINGO the young drivers getting affordable car insurance.
  14. It is a legal requirement that you have insurance to drive a car on the highway. If you don't you are breaking the law. If its expensive its because they are driving round with unavoidable inexperience and a very bad attitude to safety which has got everybody into this mess in the first place, coupled with the trend to sue for huge amounts when there is an accident.
  15. Your question is a little confused, are you suggesting that if young drivers had insurance they'd drive safer? Personally I doubt if they would, that's why their quotes are so high because they don't drive safely. Everyone was inexperienced when they first started to drive and the only way to gain thta experience is to drive whilst building up a safe record. Insurance companies don't kill kids; it's the kids themselves who are responsible so stop trying to blame others.
  16. I wouldnt say that the companies are responsible for "kids" being killed on the roads, however they ARE directly responsible for the number of young people who drive without insurance, risking other people's hard-earned should they crash. To make it clear to those who might not be aware of just how much these companies are charging young people these days, 1.4 small family hatchback worth £2,000, new driver, charge for one year £3,850. Fair? I think not.
  17. Don't be ridiculous. It is entirely down to those who drive illegally and dangerously if they get killed.
