How to get a comparative car insurance quote.?

Had an accident November 2010. I fill in car insurance quotes but they want to know how much the accident cost! My current insurance company only told me it was my fault and slashed my no claims bonus from 65 to 40% and quoted me with a 200% increase on last year. Internet quote sites want information I don't know.

1. Call up the shop that fixed your car and ask how much they billed the insurance company.

3. The problem is, that this claim could still be open. If there were any injuries from the driver and/or any passengers, then they may have a open claim pending settlement of the injuries which could take months/years to settle. If only car damages, then they should have paid off the claim, unless totaled which could take over 30 days to pay due to paperwork. Call up the adjuster who handled the claim and ask them how much was paid on this claim since you need this info to get quotes for new car insurance. I suggest not getting quotes online since even if you get an amount or if the claim is still open, then even if you buy a policy and quoted one price, could get a surprise letter in the mail stating they did not charge enough premium and wham, now owe a huge amount. Due to this accident since you will be charged at fault, I suggest you get on the phone and talk to some agents on finding a cheaper policy. Since an agent can get info that you may not be able to and may find the best policy for you. good luck
