Getting a lien taken of my car, when the lien holder is deceased?

I paid my dad off the rest of the money that I owed for the car, but I never got the lien that he had on taken off before he died. I am looking to sell the car now, and wondering how to precede with it. I live in Minnesota, any help would be appreciated.

  1. If he left a will the executor can release the lien. If he died without a will I think you need to have it removed by the probate court.
  2. The executor of his estate should be able to sign off on the lien.
