Can your parents sell your car for you?

My fiance lives in the UK & is coming over here to the US to stay for 2 months and we are sending in our fiance visa package. Can his parents sell his car for him, even though its in his name? He's 24, but has the same address as them. It would make things much easier for us if they could.

  1. generally speaking so long as he has SIGNED THE TITLE it should be o.k. get him to check it out with his DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES to see what they require.
  2. Yes. They should be able to, BUT, I'm in the US, not the UK. If it's the same as here, just have him sign the title BEFORE he comes to the states. It's that simple. Easy...
  3. If he gives them the legal right to act on his behalf they can. He can assign them as an agent for the purpose of selling the car. That gives them the right to conduct business on his behalf. When it comes time to actually signing the paperwork he would probably still have to provide his signature but you can do all that through overnight mail.
  4. notarized power of attorney lets them do it.no worries if done
