Is 4th of July holiday good time to lease or buy a car?

What time in a year is good time to lease or buy a car in US?

  1. Why would any time of year be better than another? Just go buy a car when you need a car.
  2. Not necessarily. True, you will find deals on cars marketed specifically for the 4th of July, but there are always sales going on throughout the year, and no strong internal incentive for dealers to slash their prices for the 4th. That said, there are two important things to consider: 1. Labor Day Weekend, Thanksgiving Weekend, and after Christmas. These are big times for dealers to move cars out of their inventory. For Labor Day, this is a big deal because the newest model cars will be arriving shortly after. That means, the latest model that matches the calendar year will theoretically become one year old before the end of September. This theoretical age plays a role, because cars depreciate significantly after their first year. Now for Thanksgiving and Christmas, dealers are also trying to move cars out before the close of the calendar year. This is because people are more prone to buy at the end of the year, but sales drop significantly in January and February. 2. End of the month Dealers keep a steady eye on car movement on any given day, and have goals they are looking to meet at the end of every month, regardless of what day the month falls on. It is therefore highly incentivized for dealers to sell as many cars as they can before the start of the new month. Hope this helps.
