Will you likely to die of old age or crime related incident if you happen to be in the Philippines?
I think my question is simple enough to understand. With the present situation we have in the Philippines, this question do not relate to me since I am still outside the Philippines but officially a Filipino. In your personal opinion, if one happens to live in the Philippines at the moment. Will she or he reach the ripe age of say 80 or die young at 25? Just yesterday on the TV patrol news report another BPI bank were held up by a group of bank robbers. Wala pa dun ang mga notorious carjackers. It seems that good versus evil are completely happening in the Philippines. But the sad part is evil forces are gaining grounds or completely over powering the good people of the Philippines. Another example is the story of a therapeutic guy who is working in a massage parlor in Ermita Manila as expose in the regular program of xxx at ABS-CBN. The guy just is buying a stick of cigarette outside the clinic that he happen to just mere stare or look at one of the guys outside the clinic when started to get back to the clinic the 3 guys started to call him and beating the s-h-i-t out of him without any provocation. Because these guys are drunk? Another example, just because the employer didn't check the police background of her newly hired driver, she and another family member end up dead inside a freezer in Laguna. We have witness a long line of massacre stories from the Vizconde to the Taal massacre and until now we still have massacre stories on the daily basis. Just the stories of Evangelista and Lozano who are merely selling cars end up dead and worst burn beyond recognition. The Ruby Rose Barrameda case, not only she was killed but place inside a steel drum & cemented the whole drum and the drum was place inside another steel cabinet and was throw in the Pasig river. Who would find the dead body unless the person is one of the guys who done it. These are just a few gruesome examples I had in mind. Would you die of a ripe old age of 80 in the Philippines? Really? Why do you think that. Thanks for your opinions.

- cool story bro. I take the star back ;)
- You are correct there is some violent crime in Philippines but not as much as here in the States. As far as random killings in Philippines thankfully it is rare most are to do with the victim making bad choices or unwittingly providing an opportunity for theft that result in death. There are safety issues there that could shorten life expectancy. The roads are not well done and drivers and vehicles are lacking. Air pollution is a real problem in most major cities. On the other hand abundant fresh seafood, fruit and vegetables are available for a healthy diet. There are good skilled doctors and a few good hospitals if one has money. The down side is poor people may die from simple illness if they have no money. I think the average person would live a good long life.
- If you are talking "likelihood" then you are talking about probability. Between the two causes of death you asked us to choose from, I would say there are more who will die of old age than from crime related incident. True, there is a real concern about rising criminality causing deaths. But it is still unthinkable that more people will die from crime related incidents than other causes of death.
- I would likely to die of old age and enjoy my life to the fullest serving and giving charity.
- life is very uncertain regardless of where on this earth one lives, murder and mayhem does seem to be increasing everywhere but one factor for that is much more and widespread news reporting, even simple rural folks learn of murders and such antisocial behavior quickly only a few years ago this wasn't the case, the philippines is still much safer for the average law abiding citizen than many countries including north america, europe and certainly the middle east
- AIDS
- Sure the examples you gave are gruesome but how many people died of old age in the same time period? Maybe 50 or more. The ones that die of old age are not given the publicity the others are
- If you don't know where to step your foot here in Ph, you'll probably might get killed untimely. But if you know the drill, and if you know the places and the people surrounding you, then you will be safe up until to your last breath.
- lakwatsa is correct. But just to let you know, there are lots of places all over the world (even in many places in the US) where the probability of getting killed by violence is higher. But if you are going to ask me, majority of the people in the Philippine will probably die of heart related causes (such as heart attacks, strokes and other complications, diabetes included plus of course lung cancer and liver cancer -- of course caused by cigarettes and alcohol).
