Can I use my left over student loan money to buy a car?

So, I need to get a student loan from the bank to pay for the rest of my tuition, and books and such. I figure with the left over money I could get a cheap used car. I am living on campus 40 minutes from home, and I plan on getting a job off campus; so I will need some sort of transportation for work and so I can get home. I have $500 saved up to put towards a car. So, can I do this?

  1. Yes... It is considered cost of living so you can use it however you need to
  2. Yeah! But make sure you get something cheap and affordable, it's always good to have some of that loan money off to the side just in case you need it.
