Can you pay for a car in cash?
My parents have been saving since i was a kid to buy me a car by the time i get to college, but they're really old fashion and don't believe in banks or checks. When i asked how are they going to pay the dealer they said with cash. I was wondering if that is even possible. Will the dealership accept cash? I'm only asking because some people might think its suspicious to pay with that amount of cash.

- it's money..
- Dealerships actually prefer cash and are more likely to give you a better reduced cost if you pay in cash. So yes, it is possible.
- apparently yes, have you ever seen the movie psycho? there's like a part when the girl buys a car with some cash she stole....
- Yes. I'm sure that a dealership will appreciate cash more, since there is much less paperwork. You'll probably even get a much cheaper price paying in cash. Of course, cash transactions over a certain dollar amount do raise red flags for some businesses.
- hell yea checks are most likely to bounce now adays cash is the way to go
- Of course its possible. In fact that is the best way to buy a car. Walk in and drop hundred dollar bills in their lap.
- While they may not like accepting cash, they are in fact required by law to do so! The biggest concern will be that transacting such a large $$ amount will trigger security concerns. A cash purchase of this magnitude is often associated with Drug or Prostitution businesses. Other concerns will be counterfeiting. Your folks should be prepared to wait and go through some security review. Astrobuf
- Yes, they will take cash. No, you will not get a better deal. They actually make a great deal on financing. If you want to have a lot of fun bring the cash all in one dollar bills, or even better in coins.
- All cash transactions of $10,000 or more have to be reported to the IRS by the dealer. Large cash transactions are a sign of money laundering to the government.
