Should I buy a New or Used car?
Hi, I am 19 years old, drove my dads car almost daily since 17 and I think its time for me to buy my own car. My only concern is new or used? Benefits from Used is that its much cheaper, but it will be hard for me to spend all my money on one of the cars I like.. The benefits from a new car is that I can have monthly payments as low as $159 a month for about 3 years or so. What do you guys think? please opinions and advice or some experiences.

- Depends on your budget .;''''''''''
- I would say go to one of the dealers like CarMax or something similar. They have a wide variety of barely used cars that will save you quite a bit of money and still have most of the benefits of a new car. You can still get extended warranties for the cars and you save the money for the depreciation that happens on a new car as soon as you drive it off the lot. I bought a 2002 Dodge Dakota that only had 4000 miles on it. It was a demo at a dealership that sold it to CarMax. I got a 100,000 mile warranty with it for an extra thousand dollars or so. It was the exact vehicle I was looking for and I paid like four thousand dollars less than if I had bought a new one. If you do a little research, I think buying barely used is the way to go.
- I would go with the used car option, for now. Apart from being cheaper, it also gives you a sense of ownership and, in a way, prepares you for a new car down the line. I had a used car when I was 19. After a lot of ups and downs, I finally bought my first new car at age 24.
- your payments will not be $159 a month for new
- used alot cheaper but probaly more crapier
- Gabriel A, It is going to be really hard to find a new car that is within your monthly payment range. But I see where you are coming from that you like the benefits of a new car. If you were to purchase a GM vehicle, and it certified used you will also be getting a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty just for assurance that your wear and tear items can be taken care of, within the warranty, without costing you any more money. You can go to dealership and purchase used vehicles that are still nice, and sometimes you can get a good deal on a fairly new one. Good Luck! Breanne GM Customer Service
