If you found out the use car you were buying was used as a rental, would you still buy it?
I am getting a great deal on it, nearly $2,000 under the Kelly blue book value, and it only has 23,000 miles on it. However, giving the fact that it was a rental car, and I know how I am most of you drive rental cars, that makes me wonder a bit, should it?

- I wouldn't. Being a rental means that a hundred people drove it who had no interest in taking care of it.
- Rental cars take a beating. I would keep looking.
- you know the routine maintenance was done on the car something you don't know if it was a personal car
- Here's the truth on previous rentals. People always say "Don't buy one people who rented t could have beaten it up". Well, isn't that true of ANY used car? Couldn't a private owner have neglected maintenance, run the radiator dry, never aligned the wheels, etc? Yes Rental car companies rely on their fleet to make a living, Oil changes are done on schedule. Maintenance is done on schedule. They take very good care of their cars. True, some dingus could rent it and act like an ass for a week. But its only a week. What about the dingus that owned a car, acted like an ass, but drove it for 2 years like that before trading? Most rental car companies won't rent to someone under 25. IMHO, people don't generally reach their mid 20s, rent a car, go drifting and drain the Oil, crack the block then turn it back in. And if they did, guess what - they would have to pay for all the proper repairs. To me, rental cars can be a good value. People shy away from them. But in my experience, a prior rental has better maintenance and is in better condition than most private-party trades of the same yr/make/model. The only drawback to previous rentals is options. They usually don't order their cars loaded up with options. A rental is usually a more base-model car. Other than that, they are identical to cars consumers buy off the lot.
- I've owned 3 former rental cars and they have all been great. Doesn't bother me at all.
