How to get cheap car insurance for a 17 year old?
I'm a 17 year old male and i've recently passed my driving test and done IAM (Institute of Advanced Motorists) I live in the UK and need to know of any cars for cheap insurance or any ways to get cheap insurance WITHOUT putting myself as a named driver on my parents car. Many thanks. :). @ Stew, I clearly said i'm from the UK and the legal age to drive in the UK is 17.

- That will be impossible. The exact identity of EVERY authorized driver MUST be on the policy. That's universally true - whether the Commonwealth countries, the USA and even China. And I'm afraid all insurers realize that adolescent males have the highest accident rate among drivers, and so the insurance rates for such as you is the highest there is. Your ONLY recourse is to grow older.
- Cars have different insurance rates on each location. You need to check with insurance agents as to what rate for what specific model. As far as low costs you may have to live with a specific cost which is based on age. You may ask if going thru any safety training, beyond the license requirements, may lower those rates. Driving is expensive in so many ways that another question to ask if you really need this transportation vs public until you are older. If you are a student driving needs may not be as high as you think they are. Yes, I also wanted a car went I started college but my family could not afford it. I purchased my first car once I stated working after college and got married and started working. I did not actually need a car, I just wanted one. Just could not swing the costs. Good luck and please drive carefully.
- Mid 80's or older Mini 1000. Cheapest thing you can insure. I could have got one insured when I was 17 for £1800 D: But I bought a chavvy 106 instead and paid over £2000 lol I'm 19 now and my renewal was £800. \o/ btw, for the information of others, male and female drivers in the UK have to be treated equally by law from car insurers since last year. I didn't do IAM because insurers refused to lower their quotes.
